Christian Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization licensed by the State of Michigan. All gifts to Christian Haven are tax-deductible and will enable the Home to continue fulfilling its Christ-like mission of service to the community at an affordable price. Christian Haven Home has several different funds in need of your support. Your contribution to any of these areas is greatly appreciated.
Christian Haven Vanguard Endowment Fund
This fund was established to benefit the financial needs of Christian Haven as determined by the Board of Directors. Only the interest income of these monies may be used on expenditures based on the best use or need as determined by the Board of Directors.
Christian Haven Capital Fund
This fund was established to support major capital additions or repairs to Christian Haven (ie. roofing, room updates and renovations). Either the income or the principal of these monies may be used to benefit the needs of Christian
Haven based on the best use or need as determined by the Board and be transferred to other funds at the Board of Directors discretion. Gifts of personal property that are not intended to be sold are given to this fund.
Christian Haven Fund - Grand Haven Area Community Foundation
This fund gives donors the benefit of the Michigan State tax credit and enables donors to contribute planned endowed amounts using vehicles such as charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts and charitable lead trusts. The monies are held at the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation and only the interest income is distributed to Christian Haven each year. This income can be used at the Board of Directors discretion.
How To Give To Christian Haven
There are a variety of financial methods for giving to Christian Haven Home. One-time gifts are accepted via personal check. If you are looking to participate in planned giving – wills, life insurance policies, charitable remainder trusts, and charitable gift annuities are the most common methods. Other opportunities for financial giving to Christian Haven are available through the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation as a gift to the Christian Haven Endowment.
Gifts-in-kind are always needed and help Christian Haven minimize costs and help to keep rental rates affordable. An example of gifts include: vacuum, digital camera, puzzles, fleece cloth for blanket making and handicap bathtubs. If you have something you would like to donate or if you would like a list of items that are needed please contact the office.
Board of Directors & Auxiliary
The board of directors and Auxiliary for Christian Haven Home are always looking for members and volunteers.
The Board of Directors oversees administration of the Home. They meet on the third Monday of the month at 4:00 pm in the Christian Haven conference room.
The Christian Haven Auxiliary plans fundraising events and also helps with hosting resident events such as bingo, the resident family picnic and Coast Guard week festivities. The auxiliary meets the fourth Monday of the month at 1:30 pm in the Christian Haven conference room.
Volunteers are always welcome and needed at Christian Haven Home. Come in and play cards, host a craft, bring music for a sing-a-long, read to a resident, organize a knitting group, play games on the Wii – the sky is the limit! All you have to do is call the offices at Christian Haven and discuss what you are planning.
Refer A Resident
Another great way to assist Christian Haven is to refer a resident to the Home. Encourage them to take a tour of our facility, join us for lunch or just spend time getting to know some of our residents.
